It took me quite awhile to read “What a Son Needs From His Mom” in entirety. Usually when I have to plow slowly through a book it’s because it requires a real effort on my part to stay interested, but such was not the case here. Rather, I found that there was quite a lot to digest, and I would be better served by taking the time to absorb the wisdom, sort through the advice, and carefully ponder the questions at the end of each chapter. This is the kind of book you’ll want to do a lot of highlighting and note-taking in, and it would make a great small-group tool. Simply put; it is literally overflowing with encouragement, coaching, and ideas, and regardless of what stage you are in as a mom you’ll find it relevant and applicable to your relationship with your son. “What a Son Needs From His Mom” would be a wonderful gift for a new mom, that friend who is simply at her wits end, or the mother who is always seeking new ideas and growth as a parent. While this book is aimed specifically at moms of boys, many of the principles and truths apply in the classroom and to girls as well as boys, so it’s worth mentioning that author Cheri Fuller is careful to keep it focused, but doesn’t neglect a broader application.
